LEZAK,%2520Jason-TorsoLibby Trickett has won gold in the women's 100m butterfly, with countrymate Jess Schipper grabbing bronze.Trickett won in 56.73 seconds - just 0.12 seconds outside Inge de Bruijn's world record. She was closely followed to wall by teammate Jessica Schipper who came third for a bronze medal with a time of 57.25 seconds.Spruiked as a challenger to Schipper, the pair have a healthy rivalry in the event pushing each other to win.Meanwhile, Eamon Sullivan has set a new individual world record of 47.24 seconds in leading off Australia's bronze medal-winning 4x100m freestyle relay. But the the medal ceremony was delayed by organisers after Australian veteran Ashley Callus collapsed after the thrilling race and his teammates refused to leave his side.Callus, 29 suffered a dizzy spell and spent about 10 minutes on the ground, although he did not lose consciousness, as the team left the pool arena. He looked ashen-faced as he walked through the media area after recovering enough to move and was sur...

According to the AP, the Maariv Daily, an Israeli newspaper, has published the prayer. Dad, things are great here. Please send more money. Love, Barack. I kid. I'm actually not going to reprint the prayer here, but you can check out the AP story if you really want to. It may seem paradoxical to make a joke about the prayer, then refuse to reprint, but there are two principles at work here. In comedy, nothing is sacred. In a democracy, privacy is sacred. phelps-lzr-cp-4341548This year’s spate of come-from-behind victories by the Orioles has dredged up memories of the old Orioles Magic days of the late '70s. There has even been an update of the old video of Rick Dempsey and Eddie Murray “singing” the Orioles Magic jingle by Kevin Millar, Jeremy Guthrie and a few others.  In fact, a few weeks ago, the O’s gave away 20,000 DVDs of that performance and how it was made. The DVD also had footage of the Doug DeCinces walk-off home run in 1971 that signaled the beginning of Orioles Magic.  But where did all this magic come from in the first place? Actually, it started to take shape in the ’78 season when "Wild Bill" Hagy and his gang from Section 34 began waving towels back and forth with Dempsey.  We used a company out of Cleveland called Metronome to produce it.  Also in 1979, WFBR Mad Radio 13 took over the broadcast rights of the Orioles from WBAL.  By playing that jingle along with game highlights from the night before by morning...

mccain-meghan_168x256The famed Rodgers & Hammerstein music publishing business, run by Ted Chapin, has put itself on the market for a mere $250 million.  Bloomin' BloombergHis honor the mayor of New York has peripheral publicity this month.  And his aide Megan Sheekey, that blond bombshell of public dedication, is expecting. She married music producer-sound designer Shelby Gaines last Christmas. They went snowboarding on their honeymoon but are now into bassinets.  And tomorrow night he'll be welcoming New York Sen.  Hillary Clinton back to the city to show her that New Yorkers still love her.  Redemption? Between the LinesDr.  Jason Lezak Powers U.S.  Veteran U.S. Olympic swimmer Jason Lezak (pictured second from left), 32, delivered a blistering anchor leg to win the gold for the U.S. 400-meter freestyle relay August 10 in Beijing, China.  The U.S. 400-meter freestyle relay team of Lezak, Michael Phelps, Cullen Jones and Garret Weber-Gale came from behind to win the exciting race, upsetting France, whose anchor, Alain Bernard, had brashly vowed to "smash" the U.S.  The  6'4", 205-lb. Lezak trailed Bernard--who had started the day as the world record holder in the 100-meter freestyle--by half a body length when the two swimmers turned from the final wall.  When I flipped at the 50, and saw how far ahead he was, knowing he was the world record holder, for a split second a thought crossed my mind: There is no way," Lezak said. "But I said 'You know what? This is ridiculous. This is the Olympics and I'm here for the United States of America. I don't care how bad it hurts.' Honestly, in lik...
